I started the day off in a Christmas decorated Harry's Hideout where Arthur Read and Jack James were playing games like table-football with some of the junior fans who were in there. At the same time, people were having fun playing FIFA 19, some good Christmas themed games and also getting their faces painted. So, if you get to the ground early and you sit in the Kenilworth stand, why not make your way down to the corner of the pitch by the SKF clock and then go behind the stand and have a look inside there and have a go at everything that's on offer in there.
Before the game kicked off, as always, the players had their warm up and shooting practice, where you can be sure of some eventful circumstances coming from that. Although, I don't think the fans were expecting such a wayward bullet shot from Pelly to be flying at their faces and then almost knocking someone's head off. As a result of this, Health and Safety will now be issuing those sat in the Kenny with protective hard hats. Though kindly, After the warm up had finished, Pelly went and checked with the fan that he had hit to make sure they were alright and then the medics did a great job with making sure that everyone was alright.
After that, the players made their way onto the pitch ready to start the game. The teams swapped ends as Sonny Bradley ran back into the changing room, shortly followed by a member of the coaching staff. Sonny eventually made his way back onto the pitch and the game began.
Luton started out on top and quickly made it known how they were intending to play this game, with every challenge and loose ball ending up with another fast paced attack from the town. It didn't take long for us to open the scoring, and after just 11 minutes, we took advantage of having the extra player for a minute as a nice ball from JJ on the edge of the box through to Shinnie on the overlap, resulted in Shinnie crossing the ball into the edge of the six-yard box and, after a bit of a scrap, Elliot Lee went sliding in only to see Harry Cornick had already got there first to put the ball in the back of the net.
The game continued in this way, but to no avail for the Hatters as Fleetwood held on through the ongoing wave after wave of attacks from us. We continued in both the rest of the first half and throughout the second half playing crosses across the box and close calls from Elliot Lee, James Collins, Andrew Shinnie, and Glen Rea who, after another shocking shooting practice in the warm up, for once finally got a shot on target only to see if flying back after it had been cleared off of the line.
Then, Nathan Jones made a sub. He brought on Super Danny! After he came on, Hylton was unstoppable and the opposition defence couldn't handle him. With good passes and well-timed runs, Hylton was creating loads of chances. He clearly didn't want to be stuck on the bench watching the team next week. He received the ball on the edge of the box with two defenders stood behind him and, where ordinarily a player would have passed it, Hylton cheekily flicked the ball over the defenders' heads and almost scored that goal which he had been looking for and was only prevented from getting it by the hand of one of the fleetwood defender.
We had another chance, and guess what? Hylton was involved again! He ran down the left hand side of the box and tried to cross the ball over to Collins and saw the ball go ricocheting off of the fleetwood defender and beat the goalie at his near post. 2-0!
The game continued with a few more chances up until the end. But that wasn't all of the excitement from the game. To rapturous applause, Luke Berry came on for his first league game of this season and made his long awaited come back after back 2 injuries.
The game finished 2-0 and the town extended their amazing home form where there are too many facts and other things to mention from last season carrying over to this season. So let's just say we are very good at home! Bring on Coventry away and then Burton at home!
