The idea was inspired by the gesture of friendship from the Bury Park community last season where representatives handed out free chocolates to supporters ahead of the Town’s match against Mansfield Town at Kenilworth Road.
The Club have long enjoyed a warm relationship with residents and business owners in the streets surrounding the stadium, many of whom experience some disruption on home match days.
“The idea was to reach out to our close neighbours, and to extend a message of thanks and friendship along with a small gesture of a voucher to come and enjoy a pre-season friendly match”, said Kevan Platt – Matchday Operations Manager.
“The community in and around the stadium have grown and changed throughout the history of the Club, and it’s as important to us today as ever to build on our excellent relationships with our neighbours who represent a large number of diverse communities.
“Our team will be posting letters by hand this afternoon, and we have also distributed a number of tickets to other local community groups, via Mostaque and our contacts in the local Mosques as well as via our Club Chaplain – David Kesterton and our friends at Inspire FM.
“We’re sure that this gesture will be welcomed by our neighbours – and that we see many new faces at Kenilworth Road for our pre-season matches against Norwich City and Notts County.”
Local residents who receive a voucher through their door can redeem it against two tickets for a home pre-season friendly at the ticket office in Kenilworth Road.
