2021/22 Season Review | January

An emotional Mick Harford received a heroes welcome as he returned to the dug-out following his treatment for Prostate Cancer prior to the FA Cup victory against Harrogate Town to kick-off the new year.

It would prove to be somewhat of a warm-up for promotion contenders AFC Bournemouth the following week and after racing into a two-goal advantage in the first half, Town had come back from their Covid-enforced break with a point to prove.

But such was the quality of the Cherries in the second half, they were pegged back level with just over 10 minutes to play.

Refusing to lie-down which has been a mainstay in Luton’s armory for many a year now, most know the script for what would later ensue in the 97th minute as the Hatters found a dramatic winner through Kal Naismith.

The foundations of the stadium rocked as Nathan Jones went running down the touchline and produced a fantastic knee-slide in front of the Luton faithful on a day that will live long in the memory of those who stayed to the very end!

A great deal of confidence was carried over into the 2-0 away win at Reading as Jones’ side continued their march up the Championship table.

Defeat to Sheffield United was quickly placed in the rear-view mirror as the Hatters – donning the white ‘Legends’ kit in support of Shelter’s No Home Kit campaign – extended their good form at home with a win over Bristol City.
